Green NYC

Mike Bloomberg made New York City a global leader in fighting climate change and pioneering sustainability measures, while also building hundreds of acres of new parkland and re-opening major areas of the waterfront that had been abandoned by industry decades ago.

NYC established the nation’s most comprehensive sustainability plan, including a new national model for Green Building Codes. In 2013, NYC's Citi Bike system was the largest bike share program in the country. By the time Mayor Bloomberg left office, New York City was a national leader in combating climate change and was on schedule to reduce the city's carbon footprint by 30% by 2030.
